Internships

ESMT's Master in Management program integrates up to two internships into the curriculum.

When completing the mandatory internship, students earn credits towards the Master's degree. It takes place between April and September and has a minimum duration of 12 weeks, but most students choose to do a longer internship of up to six months. ESMT's Career Services team works with MIM students to find the right internship. With guidance from ESMT, students individually apply for the chosen internship positions. Most students find their internships through a combination of engagement with ESMT's partners and open applications to companies of their choice.

Germany is the most popular location for internships; however, students are allowed to do the internship anywhere in the world. Other locations in the past included the Netherlands, Japan, Turkey, Switzerland, France, South Korea, and Kenya.

Many students, especially after returning for the second year of their studies, will take up a working student position of up to 20 hours per week to continue their professional development and gain further practical experience.

The integration of this 6-month internship in the master curriculum at ESMT is the highlight of the whole program. It enabled me to use the knowledge I gained in the business world and it also helped me establish strong networks with top organizations.
